Durga Puja, a vibrant Indian festival, is eagerly anticipated with great fervor and excitement. Celebrated over ten days, it marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. Elaborate pandals (temporary structures) are crafted, showcasing artistic themes and intricate decorations. Devotees immerse themselves in prayers, rituals, and cultural performances, while the air reverberates with the beats of dhak drums and chants of religious hymns. The goddess, beautifully adorned, is worshipped with devotion and reverence. This auspicious occasion brings communities together, fostering unity and joy.
Durga Puja - Past Events
First of all, thanks to all our donors, sponsors and members for continuing to support the events and inherent causes in the past years. When we began our humble journey 13 years ago, our goal was to find an opportunity to get like-minded professionals of the area together. But as we learned the ropes and found meaning in the celebration of an auspicious event, we got ambitious. We grew exponentially in terms of membership, expanded to include wider communities and began to imbibe in social causes globally. In search for the perfect re-creation of our home-town puja experience, we decided to host the event in a tent (Bengali’s call it a Pandal), and started cooking the meals (Bhog) in-house ourselves. With this, came the eternal Bengali pass-time called Adda. Two years ago, we took an audacious step – of making the event a Non-Ticketed one, and only depended on optional member donations and kind sponsorships. Last year, we were humbled to have hosted more than 5,000 patrons through the event days. Please feel free to check out last few year’s festivities. In our tenth year, we are taking bolder footsteps to grow in member base and an even more enriched experience for the participants.
Hope to see you with your friends and family.
Durga Puja 2024
Celebrated by Boston Durga Bari, promises to be a magnificent spectacle, blending tradition, spirituality, and cultural splendor. Location for this year was: 39 Kilby St, Hingham, MA (Son’s of Italy).
Like previous years, we will celebrate 5 days (according to tithi) in a pandal reliving the (almost) lost art of Mojilpur. Your support and generosity helps us keep the tradition going. Please see important details below:
